Goddess at Hand

This is my latest painting, I have quite a ways to go, but I'm really in love with the background. It's ink and acrylic on a wood panel. and I placed painters tape all over the wood so I could take it off at various stages and get a 'raw wood' feel. I hope to finish her this evening! And I was thinking about covering her in clear embossing powder as the very last step to seal it in. Is that a good idea?

It's okay to fail.

So, obviously, I didn't make a post yesterday about my amazing upcycled lamp shade. EPIC FAIL.

As I began to cut into the shade I found out a few things.
1. I don't really think things through.
2. There are NO side supports on this shade.
3. I didn't have a back-up plan.
well, poop. So I had to run out to the store and buy a new shade and come back to the drawing board.

But that's the best thing ever-
I didn't get defeated. I didn't get down on myself.
I learned a lesson(maybe check it out all the way, have a back up) and I'll keep going. So for now, the doily's are chillin on my worktable and I started a new project. I'm going to keep thinking about the doily's until I figure out a solution, but I'm not going to give up. I have faith in me. I'll come up with something eventually. and it wasn't a failure, it was a learning experience. I totally know how to tackle this when I get a new plan together!

Until then, we'll just say this project is to be continued...

Messy and fun

This is the painting I've created for Poor Richards Book Shoppe. It's acrylic, ink pencil and crayon on a wood panel. I paint with my hands only and intuitively. A messy practice but SO FUN!

Protection in the West

WIP Pitt Pin on Mixed Media Paper

My journey to the West held this magnificent beast in a cave at the bottom of the ocean, holding all of my fear beneath her like an egg. She protects me from the full brunt of my fear, only allowing a little to escape at a time for me to experience...but i'm learning to teach my protector to release that fear into the ocean to be consumed by the elements.

Minus the Bear

I'm still working on this one but besides a few minor details, I'm done. This was a crazy trip and started out completely different, the growth and stories it tells through the layers is personally astounding...This may be mine...

SADHAKA

Sadhake means the student who strives for a goal.

This is the most recent painting I'm working on, and this is what I look like when I paint. Neither is too impressive right now, but both will clean up well! I'm doing the Artists Way again and we meet every Wednesday and I realized the reason I never fully commit to this (or Anything else) is because I'd have to know me completely...how terrifying! To know yourself inside and out, no self doubt, full conviction...tha'ts the scariest thing ever! But it's my goal. I've been doing some list making and mind mapping and I have my goals and priorities set and ready to accomplish, broken into month by month lists...it's totally doable, I just have to stay on my own ass to follow through. I let myself down more than anyone else and that's the first thing to change. I WILL follow through on every task I give myself for now own. No more jumping ship and running when things get too difficult. Wish me luck!
