How to make Your Own Smudge Sticks

I use smudge sticks every time I sit to meditate, read my cards, preform a ritual, have a fight, start a new season, feel like crap, basically, I use a smudge stick for everything. With the discovery of fire, people began to notice that aromatic smoke was produced by burning dried plants. As herbs, roots, resins and barks are transformed from their physical form by fire into smoke (spirit world form)it opened their eyes to change. This transformation is evidence of the spirit within substances. There are many websites on how and why we smudge, the 'proper' way. I prefer to create my own rituals and "circle time" and I like to make my own tools as well. Before I begin anything: project, craft, ritual, making something to be used sacredly, I always ask the Universe for guidance and sit for a moment in silence. When I'm finished, I always thank the Universe for watching over me as I preformed a new task.

I gather everything together before I get started when beginning a project...I hate being interrupted or having to stop and go. It messes with my flow. In Native American Cultures and various other cultures everywhere, certain herbs are used for certain ceremonies. I use what I like and what speaks to me at that time. I use white sage for a total cleanse. I like  the smell of lavender and rose together, and I add those for love and peace. Patchouli is my favorite fragrance of all time and I have a powder that I add into my sage to spice it up a bit(so punny, sorry.) I also use thyme, rosemary, lambs ear, and chamomile. I do only use organic ingredients and materials if I can help it...I'm sure inhaling pesticides and GMO's isn't good for you.

Lie all of your ingredients out and mix and match until you are pleased with your selection. Using a thin hemp or cotton start in the middle and start to wrap the herbs together. I wrap back and forth tucking leaves as I go, until I get to the end and I simply tie a knot.

I then take craft paper or a recycled paper bag and roll the smudge stick into a paper tube, tying it off with string long enough to be able to hang. I cut a little slit in the top of the tube so that it would hang up and down and not all wonky. This way all of the moisture will come to one end and not get all moldy and such. Let the stick dry for about a week or so and then use it to your hearts content.

I am Triumphant!

Today I dropped my keys into my car engine...and then dug around on all fours looking in the grass and on the ground under the car, no luck. Dug through the engine, took the battery out, did everything I could think of...but never not once, did I get angry...I just kept trying different things and knew something was gonna work. I lied on my back and banged under the car to try to 'hear' the keys jingle...I finally heard a muffled jingle. Guess where they were?!?
IN THE BUMPER!
IN THE FREAKIN BUMPER!
So...i got the screwdriver and took half the bolts off the body of the car, then I pulled the plastic of the front bumper back and shimmeyed the keys out-
SUCCESS!

I never had the idea "I can't do this" or, "I'll never get this figured out", I just tried everything I could think of until something worked! Something always works. Always.
Never give up.
Never think you can't do something.
And never, never, forget that the Universe has a twisted sense of humor...and that it's always telling you something...
You just have to listen.

Great Globs of Glitter and Goals

I'm listing my goals and checking them twice...sound great? NO! It sucks! Not holiday goals...To Do goals. I had a REVELATION of  REMARKABILITY today- it hit me like a bolt of lightening on the way home from dropping the bubbas off at school. Money- the thorn in my side...like running through mud, my finances have been sluggish and sad. I have literally sat in the bathroom floor and cried about lack of cash and how I'd keep the lights on.
BUT TODAY(!) I know how to change it!

Money = Energy (good or bad)
Positive attracts positive and negative attracts negative

I've always been surrounded by unhealthy money thoughts- I've always said "I hate money" or "I don't need money" or, " I'm an artist, I don't think that way."
Well guess what? Hells yeah I need money-at least for my necessities! I mean, heat aint free!
And all this time I've been telling the Universe " I don't need money" and all this time the Universe has been like, "Uh, okay dumbass- let's see how long this can last"

Well I'm DONE.

I need money! We all do! Until my dream of trade and barter comes true, I have to pay the bills.
So...here's what I'm doing starting RIGHT NOW-
NO MORE Procrastination, no more of the word Later in my vocabulary...no more energy drains...
#1 energy drain- the computer
#2 energy drain- the TV
#3 energy drain- the couch
#4 energy drain- excuses
I love to make and make but if I sit on the couch or computer I will never get back up! and even though my art supplies are right there, I never reach for them!
#1 Money Drain- negativity towards money
#2 Money Drain- frivolous spending ( Starbucks? new journals? The same shade of Golden paint?)
#3 Money Drain- NO PLAN
#4 Money Drain- excuses
So I'm creating (TODAY) a plan, for cash coming in, how much I need to survive, what will be leftover, how I can create more, and savings. Every receipt will be saved, and I created a daily journal ( i already had it, sheesh) of every penny spent. THIS PLAN WILL WORK-
I'm calling it Goals of Glitter because a.) I put glitter on the cover:) and b.) It makes my eyes glitter in the light making a HUGE leap towards financial freedom! I will post a weekly update of my progress and we can cheer together!!!

I am creating my financial freedom!!! Today!!

love love love

Oh yeah...
"HEY UNIVERSE- I'M READY TO HAVE CASH NOW PLEASE! I WILL WORK HARDER!"

Grounded

I've finally realized that my gypsy days need to be over. That my roots are starting to form tight knots and furls underneath the grass and embedding themselves so deeply into the soil that they'll be no easy moving. I fought that for so long...thinking I'm going to be better here or there...but I'm best in ME and now that I'm finally coming to understand that I think it's time to work on my environment...my surroundings. I've really been given some amazing advice by my friend Rachel and I've decided to listen with all of me, not just my ears. I'm going to ACCEPT my surroundings and path, and TRUST that the Universe is taking care of me. I've always believed that, but there's been a tiny kernel of doubt lingering somewhere just near the back of my brain. That 'logic' part that tries not to trust or believe in anything...I've given in fully to faith and trust and thrown away all doubt. EVERYTHING WILL BE ALRIGHT! The path that forms ahead of me as each day develops is the right path for me, I know this because I'm only making decisions that feel right to me that are good for me and that I want to do. This is not a selfish way of thinking, it's just understanding that if I'm good and happy, I'll try to create that in everyone around me and hopefully the joy will shrug off me like glitter, and stick to every surface! This self-realization journey is by no means over, and I fully understand that it's a practice...like my art and meditation and yoga...I will always learn something new, and making adjustments for comfort are always allowed.
